Hello Wendy

We sold our house at auction yesterday and we would like to let you know our thoughts.

One month ago we thought we had a fair idea on what our property was worth. We thought in the vicinity of $575,000. We talked to a friend, Jim Broadbent in Kerikeri who referred us to Barfoots in Howick. As a consequence Simone Young was sent around to appraise our property.

From then on, things became a bit hectic, with us scampering around and preparing the house for the photographer and then the open homes.

Over the ensuing 3 weeks of open homes our place was like Grand Central Station!!! As well as this, there were at least 3 agents bringing people through each day.

Finally, the day arrived for the auction. Nobody prepares you for the stomach churning, nail biting event that this turns out to be!! There are people everywhere and you don't know whether they will bid or not.......they may have just been looking for a nice place to have their lunch!!!

And then..............the hammer goes down and you realise you have made far more than you ever dreamed of.......$630,000!! You're in shock. You hug each other in sheer relief that it's all over!!!

Wendy, this is to let you know that the whole experience has been worth the ride. Jim did the right thing by referring Simone to us. Right from day one she guided us and dealt with the multitudes who descended on our place with professionalism and charm, never losing her cool. On the day, if it was possible, I think she was more nervous than us, but what a champion. David, the auctioneer, did a wonderful job of extracting every last dollar out of the buyers. This was done with patience and humour and a superbly professional image.

All in all Wendy, you have a great lot of people working for Barfoots.

Dear Simone,

Thank you so much for all that you have contributed to our recent move from Bucklands Beach up to Kerikeri.

From our first meeting with you we were impressed with your grasp of the market situation, the options available and your focus on the essentials that had to be taken care of. It was a pleasure to have an agent who set out a work plan and time table and then followed through with it.

The fact that we were selling a rented house with tenants is not the easiest for anyone. However you accomplished the impossible---the tenants were still friendly with all of us and most accommodating right up till when they moved out. This is surely a compliment to your tact and persuasion!

We were so relieved to have you delve into all the ramifications of the LIM. The headaches now being created by council for older properties at times seemed insurmountable. However you miraculously managed to satisfy all concerned.

For a first timer, that busy Auction Room was quite daunting. However you and all the Barfoot’s staff made us feel as if we were the only clients and you was just there to sell "our" property.

The transfer of funds all went through, via the lawyers, without a hitch. I am glad to say that the Bucklands Beach funds, paid in on Friday, were available to us up here for settlement on the Monday --- so no bank finance needed!

After nearly twenty years of having Hamish, in the rental department, looking after our property and now you completing its sale, we will be sadly loosing our contact with Howick.

We thank you for all the services rendered and wish you all the best for the future.

Re: Sale of 61 Oliver Road, Eastern Beach

We completed the sale of our property on 22 January after the successful December auction at your Manukau facility. I thought it would now be timely to write to you to comment on the excellent service we received from your team member Simone Young.

My wife Anne and I have sold many properties over a number of years and in our view Simone’s skill, professionalism and effectiveness has surpassed all previous agents we have been associated with. Her pleasant manner also made it very easy for us to deal with her.
